GETTING AN APPOINTMENT
When you call us to make an appointment, we will ask you a few questions about the reason for your visit. We do this to make sure we make your appointment for the right amount of time. If you have health concerns, we may need to spend more time with you. Planned Parenthood's 18 health centers offer morning, afternoon, evening and weekend appointments. We offer walk in services for many services.

Here are some common reasons you might want an appointment
You need birth control.
You need Emergency Contraception.
You need to have a pelvic exam/pap smear/breast exam.
You might have an infection.
You are pregnant and you want to know about pregnancy options.

Arriving for your appointment
Once you check in with the receptionist, you will be given some paperwork to fill out. You will be asked to fill out a health history form and to provide us with your insurance information if you will be using it for your visit. When your paperwork is complete, a medical assistant will bring you into the lab or exam room. She will check your blood pressure, your weight and possibly your iron level (this is done with a quick finger-stick and a drop of your blood). She may ask you to leave a urine sample.

Our clinicians are all specially trained to provide reproductive health services to men and women of all ages. They do their best to make you as comfortable as possible. The clinician will first review your health history and answer any questions you may have, including helping you select a method of birth control if you are sexually active. You will be given a gynecological examination.

Once you have gotten dressed, you may speak with either the clinician or medical assistant.
Some of the things you may talk about are:
Anything unusual about your exam
How to take any medications we may give you including birth control
How to get the results of any tests you may have had

You then see the receptionist again. She will total your bill and take payment from you, as well as make any follow-up appointments you might need.

It is important to us that you have all your questions answered and to feel comfortable with your experience before you leave. Your understanding is critical to your success. At Planned Parenthood we take great pride in providing accurate, up-to-date information so you can better manage your reproductive health.
