PPC Health Centers & Services

In our 18 health centers across Connecticut, Planned Parenthood delivers affordable, high quality medical care to over 58,000 women and men each year. Our skilled and caring staff are specialists in reproductive health care and women's issues. We are proud to offer health services as individual as each of our patients.

Planned Parenthood provides health care that involves patient-focused counseling and education. Patients leave our centers with the information and knowledge they need to maintain and protect their health. Planned Parenthood providers develop a nonjudgmental and confidential rapport with patients that makes it easier to address a number of sensitive issues such as behaviors that involve risk, and safer alternatives.

 

Gynecological Examinations
Planned Parenthood's complete gynecological examination is an assessment that includes a breast and pelvic exam, and screening for anemia and high blood pressure. Screening is available for diabetes, cholesterol, HIV and sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis. All centers offer services to women with physical and mental disabilities. Special easily accessible exam tables are available at the Manchester, Bridgeport and New London centers. If you have special needs, please contact the center nearest you to see if they can accommodate these needs.  Speed it Up - Print your forms and fill them out before your appointment!

Birth Control Methods
PPC offers all currently offers the following birth control methods: oral contraceptives (the pill), Nuvaring (the vaginal ring) and OrthoEvra (the patch), Depo-Provera, IUD, diaphragm, cervical cap, spermicides, plus male and female condoms. Emergency Contraception (the morning-after pill) is also available without an appointment.

Testing and Treatment of HIV, STDs & Other Infections
Planned Parenthood of Connecticut tests for and treats sexually transmitted infections including chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas, herpes and genital warts. We also test for syphilis and HIV with treatment by referral. Testing and treatment for vaginal infections such as yeast and bacterial vaginosis is available. Testing and treatment of urinary tract infections (bladder infections) is also offered.

Services for Men
Planned Parenthood of Connecticut can help you protect yourself and your partners. When you want easy access to confidential health services, think of Planned Parenthood!  We provide testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (including Chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas, herpes and genital warts). We also provide confidential and anonymous HIV testing - .All 19 PPC health centers offer free condoms - just walk in and ask for them. PPC also provides Hepatitis B vaccinations, tuberculosis testing, and school/work physicals. Call your local Planned Parenthood center with your employers or school form to be sure our physical exam will meet your needs.  

Pregnancy Testing and Counseling
Highly sensitive urine pregnancy tests are offered as a a walk-in (no appointment required) service at Planned Parenthood centers. Counseling and referrals are provided for all options (prenatal care, adoption, and abortion). 

Abortion Services
We offer both Medication and Surgical abortion services at our health centers across the state.

Midlife Care
Evaluation and treatment of menopausal symptoms is offered at all PPC centers, and hormone replacement therapy is available. Mammography referrals are also available.  Our Bridgeport, Hartford, Meriden, New London, Old Saybrook, Shelton, Torrington health centers participate in the Connecticut Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.
