Video Collection Samples

To help you become familiar with Planned Parenthood of Connecticut's Video Library of over 250 titles, here are descriptions of a few of our most popular videos.  These titles are requested on a regular basis.

TOPIC: Abortion
TITLE: From Danger To Dignity
DETAILS:  Middle school - adult, VHS format, available from our New Haven Education office.

57 minutes.  This video weaves together the story of underground networks that developed to help women find safe abortion outside the law, along with the history of efforts to legalize abortion.

TOPIC: Health and Women's Health
TITLE: Maybe You Should Go
DETAILS: High school - young adult, VHS format, available from our New Haven Education office.

10 minutes.  This video emphasizes the health benefits of going to a reproductive health center even if you are not sexually active.  It encourages teens to seek this type of care and takes them step by step through a pelvic exam.

TOPIC: Puberty
TITLE: Power Of Girls
DETAILS: Middle school, VHS format, available from our New Haven Education office.

20 minutes.  This video profiles five adolescent girls who discuss the many challenges of growing up, emphasizing the importance of self-respect and building confidence.

TOPIC: Self Esteem and Relationships
TITLE: Dreamworlds II
DETAILS: High school - adult, VHS format, available from our New Haven Education office.

50 minutes.  Using actual clips from MTV rock videos, this documentary makes a convincing and alarming case for the theory that images of women and male-female relationships common to this medium promote violence, rape and the objectification of women.

TOPIC: Birth Control and Abstinence
TITLE: Tales From A Teen Clinic
DETAILS: High school - college, VHS format, available from our New Haven Education office.

28 minutes.  This award-winning documentary focuses on the efforts of two teen health clinics in Southern California, offering a realistic perspective on teen sexuality and the possible consequences of hasty, ill-formed decisions regarding sex.
