Payment & Billing Support at Planned Parenthood of Connecticut

PPC welcomes everyone - including people who do not have health insurance. Patients are charged according to an income-based sliding fee scale. PPC also accepts Medicaid and Medicaid HMOs (state medical insurance).
We also bill many commercial insurance plans.  Patients will be billed at their sliding fee scale for any services that are not covered by their insurance.   The sliding fee scale will not be applied to any charges that are not covered due to co-pays, deductibles, or co-insurance.  Certain services are not eligible for the sliding fee discount. Payment for all services is expected at the time of your visit.

Planned Parenthood offers payment options: Pay the Bill Yourself (Self Pay)        Medical Insurance

Pay the Bill Yourself (Self Pay)
If you don't have health insurance - or if because of privacy reasons you don't want to use your health insurance for services at Planned Parenthood - we use a sliding fee scale to determine the cost to you. A sliding fee scale is a tool that allows us take your income and other factors into consideration and discount your charges according to your individual circumstances. In some cases we can even provide services at no cost. Payment in full is expected at the time of your visit.  For example, the cost of a pack (one month's supply) of birth control pills can range from $18.00 - $30.00 each - depending on your discount. Compare these prices to what you would pay at a pharmacy - most birth control pills cost more than $50.00 per pack!

How do you know what to charge me?
We ask you for some information – your family size and your weekly income before taxes (gross income), for example. The information you provide will help us be sure you are charged correctly.

What forms of payment will you accept?
Cash
Check (Please Note: We do not accept checks as payment for abortion services.)
Money Order
Debit Cards
MasterCard
Visa
American Express
Discover

What if I can't pay the entire bill?
Planned Parenthood will not deny eligible services to those unable to pay in full at their appointment, however, payment at the time of service is expected. Please call your local health center - our staff is happy to discuss your particular situation and make payment arrangements should that be necessary.

Click here to see the listing of insurance plans we will bill.  If your insurance company is not listed here, you will be charged on our discounted fee scale. Payment is expected at time of service. We are happy to answer any questions you have about using insurance benefits for your services at Planned Parenthood.

PLEASE NOTE:  Depending on your health insurance plan, we can often bill insurance companies not listed here for surgical services like abortion and colposcopy.   We will discuss this with you when you make your appointment.

If you are planning to use insurance for your services, please remember:  Bring your current insurance card to your appointment. Any copay is due at the time of your visit. We cannot bill your insurance plan if you don't bring your card and copay with you.  We may need to give you a prescription for any medications including birth control, depending on your insurance plan.  If you are insured through someone else - like a parent - they often get a copy of the services that have been submitted to the insurance company. This can mean that others will know about your visits to Planned Parenthood.
