BE A VOICE FOR PLANNED PARENTHOOD ON YOUR CAMPUS!

Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood is a national program to educate and mobilize college students in support of reproductive health and rights. Through Vox, college students across the country organize events on and off campus to raise public awareness about reproductive rights, educate young people about sexual health, work with and support their local Planned Parenthood health centers, and mobilize advocates of reproductive freedom. "Talking to a large group of people about the frank and complicated subjects of reproductive justice and health is not what scares me.  What scares me is the idea of nobody talking about the subjects at all."
-Megan Kleczka, Eastern CT State University Vox Intern 2007

"Speaking out in favor of reproductive choice is an important part of my identity as a feminist. It is essential that I voice my opinion to inspire others to do the same. We are collectively empowering those who have been silenced. My voice enables me to be an active citizen, and for me, there is no better way to be free."    -Wesleyan University Intern

Planned Parenthood of CT Vox internship focuses on education and advocacy for local, national and global sexual and reproductive health and rights.  Students engage people on their campus in advocating for reproductive rights and health issues.  A part of the global advocacy work interns do is bringing attention to U.S. policy which has a direct effect on global health and rights.   Another opportunity for students to educate their campus about is Microbicides.

Microbicides are products in development that can be applied to the genitals before sex to prevent the transmission of HIV and/or other STDs. The Microbicides program engages students through educational and social activities on their campus. These interns involve students to help make approved use of Microbicides a reality. Interns from Wesleyan have started student advocacy groups, Students for Microbicides (S4M) to raise awareness about the need for and benefits of Microbicides.
